Instagram starts Adding IGTV Previews in Your Main Feed

In a recent announcement, Instagram has revealed that it will start adding the Instagram IGTV previews in users’ main feed. Prior to the recent change, the IGTV videos used to appear in the Explore tab. Instagram introduced its vertical video platform back in June 2018 as a standalone app. However, since then, it is making changes to integrate the IGTV to the main Instagram app. When asked about the change, the representative said:

“With IGTV previews in feed, we’re making it even easier to discover and watch the latest video content from your favorite follows.”

Instagram IGTV feature basically enables the users to upload the 10-minute long videos. Big names can even upload videos of up to one hour in length. The previews of these videos used to appear in the Explore tab. As a part of the integration, Instagram added the ability for users to add these Instagram IGTV previews to their own stories. And now after the recent announcement, you will see the Instagram IGTV previews in your main feed starting today.

At the time when online creators were expecting improvements in the interface and search functionality, the announcement was surprising. However, this push of Instagram IGTV previews shows the eagerness of the platform to take on other popular platforms such as YouTube and Twitch. The insistence on the vertical video isn’t appealing since it is against the interest of online creators.
