Facebook Payment Service Appears on Android and iOS

Facebook has an ambitious plan to overhaul the platform with new features and to acquire back the users that it has lost in the previous year. Earlier we reported a trick to enable the dark mode in Messenger app and the testing of an all-white user interface. At the same time, Facebook is getting closer to other platforms through features and integrations. For instance, last month it inducted the Unsend feature of WhatsApp followed by a step towards cross-platform integration with Instagram. Amidst all these features, we forget to dig into the possibility of a payment integration method. It appears while we were busy covering the other features, Facebook was working on a new payment service. Apparently, the tech giant is planning to launch a Facebook payment service in the near future.

Facebook Marketplace is one of the most successful features. It seems the company plans to add an important tool to make the Marketplace experience smooth. The new Facebook payment service is now available on some Facebook pages e.g Marshmello Music. Note that the feature appears on both the Android as well as the iOS app. It will allow Facebook users to pay for the products they buy through Marketplace. However, at the moment this new tool appears to be available to limited pages. To use Facebook payment service, the buyers are required to send the request to the seller, who will then have to accept or refuse to initiate or stop the process.

The whole process is a bit cumbersome but this has been the case with the Marketplace. It is unclear why the feature is appearing on a few pages. There is a possibility that Facebook is still testing the feature. Since Facebook hasn’t made any official announcement on the subject, it is too soon to establish anything.
