In the latest turn of events, NetEase has released Onmyoji Chess. It is yet another auto chess game that has made it to the app stores. Previously we saw Auto Chess and Chess Rush being the successful implemented of a new genre on the mobile platform. In the auto-chess games, 8 players battle out in turn-based competitions and the last survivor wins. Onmyoji Chess is NetEase’s effort to fuse its popular RPG, Onmyoji with the rising auto-chess genre. It replicates the same theme by combining the strategy with the Shikigami lineup. Onmyoji Chess is up in the store and you can easily install it on your handheld devices via Google Play and App store. Also, with little effort, you can download Onmyoji Chess for PC and Laptop as well.

There isn’t any official release for the PC/Laptop yet, however, via Android Emulators you can take the fun onto big screens. The installation process slightly differs from that of Android or iOS, but don’t you fret, we have got everything covered. Since there is OS restriction, we set up Android on Windows running PC/Laptop and OS X powered Macbook/iMac.

An Overview of Onmyoji Chess

Onmyoji Chess is NetEase’s take on the emerging auto-chess genre where multiple players compete on what is a board to win. It’s a strategic chess game based on the previously hit game Onmyoji. Unlike the previous auto-chess games, NetEase has taken one of its best RPGs and turned into a strategy-oriented chess game. The basic theme, however, is similar to the other auto-chess games, 8 players battle on the board with the characters from the Shikigami lineup. And since Onmyoji Chess is influenced by the Onmyoji series, the Japanese art style is hard to miss.

Coming to the gameplay and features, you can pick the characters from the Shikigami lineup for your dream team. Each character is unique and even be upgraded in terms of power. Boards are an important feature when it comes to auto-chess genre and there are so many of them in Onmyoji Chess. From romantic sakura chessboard to summer-themed beach chessboard and Japanese-styled, there is a variety of them. Also, Onmyoji Chess features Bond Effects, you activate them to receive buffs. There are different levels for each type of bond depending upon the kind of power factor they contribute.
